Riverfront Rotary Fountain
The Riverfront Park Rotary Fountain will reopen in Spring 2014, 6am-midnight.
The Riverfront Park Rotary Fountain is located on Howard Street at the South entrance to Riverfront Park. It is a popular attraction for beating the Summer heat. Kids love it!

Dedicated on September 1, 2005 to “the people of Spokane” and under the care of the Spokane Parks Department, the fountain is destined to be a popular attraction for many years to come. The Downtown Spokane Rotary Club 21 and the Spokane Parks Department worked together to make the fountain a reality. Financial support was also provided by numerous donors whose names appear around the fountain. Harold Balazs is the artist.

The fountain has five stainless steel columns that are 24 feet tall. These support a 30 foot diameter ring containing 40 overhead jets. The jets spray towards the middle of the fountain producing a dome of water and a waterfall in the fountain's center. Eight geysers shoot water upwards. The fountain also has dozens of mist jets, and the five boulders have jets that spray sideways. To conserve water, the fountain water is filtered and recirculated.

General Comments from YELP:
What a beautiful way to spend a few hours in Spokane!
Dozens of people were walking, biking, sitting on shady benches or on blankets in the sunshine.  There were moms and grandmas with their babies in strollers or clutching toddlers hands.  Groups of young people who looked as though they were dressed for work and just sitting on the steps leading down to the waters edge to enjoy a lunchtime break from their routines. The lawns, flower beds and paths are beautifully maintained and lead visitors between various formal or informal sections of the park, passing under major cross streets where necessary. Besides the wonderful white water of the rapids and falls, one of my favorite parts of the park was the Looff Carousel pavilion. Created in 1909, the horses are usable works of art and children swarmed in to claim a riding steed every few minutes, whirling around to the happy sounding music of the calliope. I also loved the Clock Tower, the giant Red Wagon in the playground area and, though I didn't climb the hill to see it up close, there was an amusement park whose outline dominated the skyline at one point on our walk. Spokane's Riverfront Park was created for the World's Fair Expo '74. It is a tribute to their planning that this park has continued to thrive and serve the city for over 40 years since. It was a great place to spend the afternoon with fun and relaxation for every age group.

Angel(China): This is an amazing park, highly representing Spokane. It is available for children, adults and the olds. I love go jogging there in the early morning. By the way, it is a romantic place for couples.

Josh (Korea): It is a peaceful park that helps me relieve my stress. Whenever I feel stressed, I decide to go there. There are a lot of things that you can do ranging from gondola to carrousel.

Shawn(China) : Riverfront Park is the first park I went in Spokane, it has a really beautiful lake and interesting places. It may not as big as the Manito Park, but the entertainment facilities there must be the most among other parks. I highly recommend it.

Alexis(America):
With events ranging from varieties of annual adventures like Pig Out in the Park to more historical and grand events like World Expo ’74, our Riverfront Park has seen it all. Once the site of our railway station, our central 100 acre park is now equipped with fun things to do like ice skating, mini golf (both indoor and outdoor) and gondola rides. On the other hand, it’s just as easy to arrange small get togethers on the lawns or take advantage of the paved paths for jogs through the beautiful riverside area (a personal favorite of mine). Bottom line, whether you’re looking to learn a little more about Spokane and its culture or just looking for something to do on a lazy afternoon, I would highly suggest at very least one visit to Riverfront Park.
